Waldakademie Wrapped – that was the year 2024

Another year has passed, and like every year, I'm surprised at how quickly the time has flown by. At first glance, it seems as if we celebrated New Year's only yesterday. But when I dig a little deeper into my thoughts, I realize how much has happened this year. We've reached important milestones with the Forest Academy. In particular, the expansion of our campus, but also the opening of the new café, were a major change, especially at the beginning of the year. But a lot has also happened in science and politics. In these sometimes crazy-seeming times, you, the Forest Academy community, give me confidence - thank you very much!

183,646 square meters

Thanks to your help, we were able to protect 183,646 square meters of old-growth deciduous forests for the next 50 years. This is truly a huge success, and we hope to build on this success again next year. This year, we were once again able to observe many rare animals in the project areas. It's an incredible feeling to know that this habitat is now safely protected.

We are also planning important milestones and further developments for our absolute heart project for the coming year.

5 Research projects in the jungle project

In 2024, we were able to support five research projects in the UrwaldProject. The first results are now in. We have already reported on the inventory in the Bergisches Land region. Here in Wershofen, 59 bird and 96 beetle species were also identified. We plan to further expand the research in the coming year.

This year, you sent us 18,386 emails with questions about the forest, which we were happy to answer. Thank you for the wonderful exchange with you.

YouTube Live

Together with you, we spent 20 evenings and 27 hours on our YouTube livestreams. We plan to expand this further next year. Please note the new dates. Starting next year, we plan to stream every other Monday:
