Learn everything about forest conservation, sustainable forest management and biodiversity for five days: basics and challenges in the field of tension between nature, people and the economy
Have you always wanted to know how trees communicate with each other or how trees affect us humans? Peter Wohlleben will guide you through these and many other exciting topics on the first day of your forest week. Forester Jan will explain forest policy and how forestry is practiced in both the traditional and ecological sense. Identification exercises are also a must: Dorothee and Burkhard will show you which forest trees and plants can be found in our local forests and the important role the forest soil plays in an intact ecosystem. On day four, Jan will go with you to search for animal tracks, and there we will discuss the wonderful diversity of our forest animals. How are our forests faring in the face of climate change, what importance has the forest had over the past centuries, and what can we do to help the forest? Patrick will answer these questions for you on the last day of your forest week and provide you with an encouraging conclusion: the forest is coming back.
State-recognized educational leave in some federal states! Please contact us!
Every day you will experience a different seminar leader with a new, exciting topic:
- Living creature tree with forester Peter Wohlleben
- Forestry with forester Jan Kaufmann
- Identification exercises and basic knowledge of flora with biologist Dr. Dorothee Killmann
- Animals in the forest with forester Jan Kaufmann
- People and forest with nature conservation and landscape ecologist Patrick Esser
The seminar will take place both indoors in our seminar rooms and outdoors in the forest. However, the outdoor sessions will take up most of the day. Since we'll be outside even in rain and wind, please bring appropriate, warm clothing and sturdy shoes.
You will receive a detailed reading list from us at the end of the seminar. Please bring writing materials for your personal notes if needed.
Seminar times:
- Day 1: 10:00 - 16:00
- Day 2 - Day 5: 9:00 - 16:00
New: Participants in the Forest Week receive a 10% discount on overnight stays at the Landgasthaus Pfahl or Hotel Kastenholz in Wershofen with the code Waldakademie10. Please contact them by phone or email before booking.
